The Stark Museum of Art invites you downtown for Stories from Cowboys of Color: An Afternoon with Don Russell, Cleo Hearn, Myrtis Dightman, Bailey “The Prairie Kid,” and Jason Griffin on Saturday, July 28, beginning at 2 p.m.  The event will feature a panel discussion from 2-3 p.m. and will be followed with a reception and book signing.

IEA-Inspire, Encourage, Achieve recently hosted its 2018 Awards & Recognition Dinner at the Beaumont Event Centre, celebrating 21 years of “Transforming Hardships Into Hope.” The annual event recognizes all IEA/"Ben's Kids" youth currently enrolled in the program, parent participation and volunteers (including IEA interns graduating from college).

One of the Bullock Texas State History Museum's largest and most notable artifacts, the North American Aviation AT-6A "Texan" airplane, took flight once more this week in Austin. Reassembled from individual sections previously on display on the third floor of the museum, the iconic World War II-era, single engine aircraft now soars over the three-storied exhibition atrium in a stunning display of airforce might.

June 26, 2018, the Beaumont Police Department Person’s Unit began assisting with a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) homicide investigation in Louisiana. Two Beaumont residents, Ronald Gene McLain, 57, and Kenneth Dawayne Williams, 32, were identified as murder suspects in the CPSO investigation, and warrants were issued for their arrest. BPD detectives assisted CPSO with the investigation for several days. June 29, McLain was arrested in Aransas Pass, Texas, and July 3, Williams turned himself in at the Beaumont Police Department.
