It promised to be a fairly quiet week at the Jefferson County Courthouse with most of the judges slated to attend a judicial conference in Dallas. It was not some sort of junket; judges earn up to 9.5 hours continuing judicial education credits. Of course, most of our judges are plenty smart when the voters tap them for their office, but there is always more to learn – and it doesn’t cost county taxpayers a dime as the conference is funded by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
