A Port Arthur pizza driver was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night, April 16, as he was attempting to make a delivery, reports the Port Arthur Police Department.

According to a news release from PAPD, officers responded to the 5300 block of Grant Avenue in reference to an aggravated robbery at 10:29 p.m. The victim reportedly told investigators that two black males approached him, one of them brandishing a handgun, and demanded money before fleeing on foot.

Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced April 16 that Armaud Sears of Beaumont was found guilty of the first-degree felony offense of Aggravated Robbery in Judge Larry Gist’s court. A jury took a little over twenty minutes to deliberate before returning a guilty verdict following a two-day trial.

The City of Beaumont and the Sea Rim Striders invite runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels to the 2015 Calder Twilight 5K. This fun evening race takes participants down Calder Avenue and through Old Town, with start and finish at Rao’s Bakery. There will be a special refreshment stop along the course sponsored by the Oaks Historic District, and an after party at Luke’s Icehouse.
