Cyclists from around the area will come together for a great cause when they converge for the 11th annual Spindletop Spin at the Event Centre in downtown Beaumont on Saturday, June 4.

Since his arrival in 1992, Blanco, the Houston Zoo’s leucistic (white) alligator has been a favorite of both guests and staff, and has been the centerpiece attraction in the Reptile and Amphibian House. As a leucistic alligator, he is also very rare, and is one of only 13 still currently alive from an original number of 18 that hatched in 1987 in Louisiana. However, as time has passed, Blanco has outgrown his current space.

April 5, the Port Arthur City Council tabled an agenda item that would prohibit land on Jade Avenue to be used for a “slaughterhouse or meat-processing plant” after Riceland Farms recently brought a proposal for such a facility before the Port Arthur Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
