The shelter has a long-timer in need of a good home. Kenzo will need a lot of room to stretch those legs. Beaumont Animal Services believes he has some Great Pyrenees in him, known for their docile temperament, devotion to people, and intelligence.

Police officers investigating a rash of burglaries in Beaumont’s West End arrested one suspect they believe participated in multiple crimes, stealing weapons, jewelry, electronics and numerous other items from several residences.

Registration opened Tuesday, March 29, for the ninth annual Christus LiveWell Women’s Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is “Living Well,” which is all about encouraging women to take charge of their lives and health to create balance and happiness in their lives.

A special ceremony at Edison Plaza in downtown Beaumont on Friday, April 1, honored James R. Barlow of Beaumont, a survivor of the historic Okinawa campaign. Members of the Marine Corps League and area veteran organizations took part in the flag raising and dedication.

The 89-year-old Barlow enlisted in May 1944. After boot camp at Parris Island, he served in the Pacific Area from January 1945 until August 1946. He was only 19 when he began serving in the last and biggest of the Pacific island battles of World War II, the Battle of Okinawa.

Wounded service members and their family members who participate in future Lone Survivor Foundation (LSF) healing retreats on the Bolivar Peninsula facility will have access to a fully equipped, wood working shop donated by Dewalt Tools.
