Hardin County ESD No. 6 broke ground on a new fire station in north Silsbee at the location of the old Kirby Elementary School at the corner of FM 92 and FM 418 on Sept. 13. This is the sixth fire station in ESD No. 6.

Silsbee High School and Lamar Institute of Technology are strengthening their partnership with a new dual-credit option. Students in welding will now have the opportunity to take tuition-free college welding classes on the campus of SHS. Both SHS welding teachers are former LIT instructors.
