Motocyclist dies in accident at airport

A 24-year-old Port Arthur man was pronounced dead at the Jack Brooks Regional Airport early Sunday morning, Dec. 4. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a call about a one vehicle accident in a secured area of the airport. According to their investigation, deputies found Jared Rogers had been traveling on a runway at a high rate of speed when he lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle he was driving.

PA police looking for aggravated robbers

Port Arthur police are looking for a black male that robbed the Time Out Convenience Store, located at 1800, Woodworth, late Sunday evening.

Pinehurst administration settles into new offices

The City of Pinehurst is now open for business at their new location at 2497 MLK Jr. Drive after a brief hiatus to allow for moving offices to the locale.

Chief of police Fred Hanauer said the offices are up for business as initially planned Monday, Dec. 5. City offices were closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week to allow for the transition.

Beaumont man sentenced to 99 years for murder

Joshua Jerell Wilson, 31 (dob 3/24/80), last known address 4760 Kenneth, Beaumont, Texas, was sentenced today (12/2/11) to a term of ninety-nine (99) years in the state penitentiary in connection with the 2010 murder of Hayward David Monceaux in Port Arthur’s Louis Manor apartment complex.

East Texas women indicted for federal tax fraud

 

BEAUMONT, Texas -  Two East Texas women have been charged with federal income tax violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.   Elizabeth Gayle Bailey, 56, of Spurger, Texas, was indicted on Nov. 16, 2011, and charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and 14 counts of preparing false tax returns.
