During today’s Public Safety Commission (PSC) meeting, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven C. McCraw discussed the border security strategic assessment that was conducted by General Barry McCaffrey (Ret.) and Retired Major-General Robert Scales as a part of HB 4 from the 82nd Session.

City officials get heated over public transit

More than a year ago, a study performed on the Beaumont Municipal Transit system deemed the operation as ineffective and made recommendations for changes to the system – none of which were made by the Beaumont City Council.

Tattoo shop operating across from Ozen without a license

 

Amid allegations of drug use, minors being tattooed and unsanitary conditions, Boss Ink, a tattoo shop that is not licensed by the state’s health department, is open for business across from Ozen High School. There has even been a complaint filed against Boss Ink that the health department has not investigated yet.

Singletary sworn in as new Beaumont Chief

Jimmy Singletary, a fixture of Southeast Texas law enforcement for the last 41 years is now the top cop in Beaumont, a department he served for 30 years.

In a packed ceremony at the Beaumont Civic Center, outgoing Beaumont Police Chief Frank Coffin welcomed Singletary back to the ranks as a Beaumont police officer and then swore him in as his replacement.

BISD's Thomas front and center at White House speech

Beaumont Independent School District Superintendent Carrol Thomas had to leave a parents luncheon early Thursday in order too make a flight that would bring him to Washington D.C. where he was a guest of the White House as it announced major changes to the current No Child Left Behind Act.
