Did you ever hear of a project that just made you feel happy? Recently, I was introduced to the Giving Field garden project. What a wonderful testimony to the volunteer efforts of our community once again!

From the cauldron to the microwave, the Dishman/Justice Collection in the Lamar University Archive documents nearly five centuries of food preparation and recipes.
“It’s a unique collection that most people don’t know that we have,” said Penny Clark, Lamar University archivist. “This is something really special. It’s sort of a hidden treasure.”

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division needs help locating a dangerous fugitive. Dustin Keith Jones
, aka Ellis Tatum,
 is 25 years old, stands 5-feet-10 and weighs 170
 pounds. His last known address was in the 4000 Block of Maida Road, Beaumont. Jones is
 believed to be hiding in the area of Broussard and Tram Road in 
Beaumont.

At least one woman was injured after a collision shut down traffic at the intersection of Calder and Willow in downtown Beaumont on Wednesday, March 6. 

Police say a white Scion traveling southbound and a grey Honda coupe traveling eastbound collided in the intersection before they both came to rest side-by-side in the middle of rush-hour traffic. 

Paramedics said at least one of the drivers was injured and would be seeking medical attention.

Police in Orange responded to a call from Little Cypress Jr. High School Monday afternoon, March 4, in reference to a student’s assault of a teacher there.

At approximately 2 p.m., Officer Joshua Dempsey reported he responded to the call and met with the principal of the school, Mitzi Conn. Conn told the officer a student at the campus assaulted another student during a sixth-grade science class. During the altercation, the attacking student reportedly shoved the instructor into her desk.
