Everyone who joins the Arbor Day Foundation in September will receive 10 free trees as part of the Trees for America program.

Everyone joining this month will receive one of the following tree packages based on their location: 10 Arizona cypress, 10 live oak or 10 mixed trees including eastern redbud, white pine, sugar maple, white flowering dogwood, pin oak, red maple, river birch, silver maple and northern red oak.

Beaumont officers arrested a robbery suspect fleeing the Stop & Shop convenience store at 671 Washington Blvd. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 11:39 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 24, the Jefferson County District Clerk’s Office will be open for Passport Day from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

This is the first time that the District Clerk’s Office has opened on a weekend since the office started doing passports April 1, 2015, according to Jefferson County District Clerk Jamie Smith. On Passport Day, customers can walk and in request routine or expedited service.

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting dangerous drug dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will periodically feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes here in High Five.

“Crime Stoppers and The Examiner are teaming up to fight the drug problem in Southeast Texas,” Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley of Crime Stoppers said.
