Three juvenile suspects are in custody in connection with a rash of arson fires that burned three vacant houses near West Orange Middle School.

Following an arson investigation of four fires at three separate addresses, two female juveniles, ages 12 and 14, were arrested on July 8. Another 13-year-old female was arrested on July 9, and authorities are investigating a fourth suspect.

The identities of the juveniles have not been released.

Beaumont Fire Rescue quickly extinguished a fire that began in the bedroom of Beaumont residence yesterday evening.

Galveston Island is full of rich history. Spanish explorer Jose de Evia named it in honor of Bernardo de Galvez y Madrid, Count of Galvez, in 1785. Pirate Jean Lafitte called the island his home until 1821 when forced out by the U.S. Navy.
