Monday, Oct. 17, at 11:46 p.m., officers responded in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on MLK northbound at Elgie .

The caller stated the victim was not responding. Officers learned a female pedestrian was attempting to cross the road in the dark and was struck by a passing vehicle.

The second suspect allegedly involved in a string of recent convenience store robberies has been taken into custody.

Detectives brought Shameca La’Shawn Pugh, a 37-year-old Beaumont woman, in for questioning Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Lone Survivor Foundation’s third annual Golf Tournament and Fundraiser held at the Brentwood Entertainment Complex in Beaumont raised $22,000 for recovering veterans and their rehabilitation facility in Crystal Beach on Oct. 7, according to Brenda Jenkins, administrator at Brent Coon and Associates (BCA), one of the main sponsors for the event.
