Lamar University’s early college entrance program for high school-aged students will offer its semiannual glimpse into the opportunities provided for mature, academically-focused students at its spring preview day Saturday, Feb. 16.

Saturday, Jan. 26, at 8:24 p.m., BPD patrol officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 3200 block of Ogden. A person called dispatch and said three people broke into a vacant house. Officers set up a perimeter and searched the house. Inside, officers located Hakeem M. Richard, 23, and Kerria Washington, 17, both from Beaumont. The third person was able to flee before officers could set up the perimeter.

Police arrested 35-year-old Jessica Bush of Orange after a call regarding a shoplifting incident resulted in the discovery of more than 150 prescription pills illegally in the woman’s possession, Orange Police Department (OPD) reported.

The Beaumont Police Department is asking for information in regards to the location of absconded sex offender Kent Lawrence Hughes.

Seven dogs are confirmed dead in Mauriceville from some type of poisoning.

On January 23, 2013 the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a dog that had been possibly poisoned in the Greenwood Acres Subdivision in Mauriceville.
