The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of 15 cattle found shot in a private property area of Mansfield Ferry Road in Vidor. Sheriff Keith Merritt said his office was alerted to the incident Monday, April 15, at approximately 8:50 a.m. by a concerned citizen traveling by the scene of the crime. According to a press release from Sgt. Chad Hogan, the cattle were all female and included several calves.

Stable-Spirit is having a Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, 4375 Dowlen Rd. in Beaumont. Tickets are $5 for all the pancakes you can eat and a beverage. Some of these funds will be used to pay for the hippotherapy portion of the program that insurance will not cover for families who are clients (or former clients) of Stable-Spirit and/or Kids Therapy.

Three Vidor Police vehicles were parked near a wooded area adjacent to the Vidor Junior High on the Interstate 10 West access road in Vidor early Monday morning at approximately 8:45 a.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious person. Chief Dave Shows said multiple officers were dispatched to the school due to the report but no one was discovered yet in the woods next to the facility.
