A woman was shot in Port Arthur and brought to the Southeast Texas Medical Center for treatment on Monday, Oct. 31 at 5:51 p.m.

Port Arthur Police were dispatched to the SETX Medical Center for a shooting victim and spoke with the three subjects who brought the victim to the hospital. Their investigation revealed that the victim may have been shot by accident while in the vehicle.

The victim is currently listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

A suspect was arrested after an alleged home burglary in Port Arthur on Monday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m.

Port Arthur police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Neches Avenue. The victim gave officers a description of the suspect and the direction the suspect had fled. PAPD officers located the suspect and stolen property.

The Lumberton “Mighty Raider” Band booster club announced last week that funds had been stolen.

“The Lumberton High School Mighty Raider Band Booster Inc. recently became aware that all of its funds are missing from the organization’s accounts,” Lumberton Band Booster President Randy Eason posted on Facebook on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Forty-five BASF Beaumont plant employees and contractors participated in the plant’s bi-annual Adopt-a-Highway trash pick-up event to clean up a two mile section of the highway located near the plant site, the company announced Oct. 31 in a statement.

Event participants collected more than 1000 pounds of trash during the event.

The clinic is a public service of the Jefferson County Bar Association, which is part of a coalition of bar associations that provide pro bono legal services to U.S. veterans in 17 counties in Texas.
