A 2013 Lumberton High School graduate and Lumberton native is serving aboard the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), living and working at the Navy’s forward-deployed base south of Tokyo.

UPDATE: Following the federal charges filed against two brothers from Bridge City for the killing of a bottlenose dolphin in July 2014, 23-year-old Cory Moseley and 18-year-old Cade Moseley have each been sentenced to one year probation, a one-year ban on hunting and fishing, a $500 fine, 50 hours of community service, and $7,353.50 in restitution.

A 53-year-old Port Arthur man has been sentenced to federal prison for child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John Malcolm Bales Feb. 17.

John “Johnny” Anthony Sassine pleaded guilty on Nov. 4, 2014 to attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor and was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison Feb. 17 by U.S. District Judge Ron Clark.
