Jefferson County Judge Larry Thorne’s 317th Civil District Court was filled to capacity Friday, June 10, as the Democratic Party welcomed new chairman Cade Bernsen with the oath of office. A time of celebration and congratulations, the event was not without an underscored purpose – to bring together a party that recently completed primary races that, by their very nature, can divide a unified force.

UPDATE: Not guilty: Jury accepts self-defense rationale in Mother’s Day stabbing


A Beaumont woman police and prosecutors say murdered her fiancé over a bad Mother’s Day gift in 2012 was in court this week claiming she acted in self-defense rather than out of malice.


The Joint Terrorism Task Force associated with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas in Beaumont has made an arrest in the bomb threat made at ExxonMobil on Wednesday, June 15.

A 23-year-old Beaumont, Texas man has been arrested for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales.  


On June 11, a gunman opened fire in the Pulse nightclub, a gay bar in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people and injuring another 53 before being gunned down by police after holding hostages inside the club for hours.
