Southeast Texas Citizen Bee contestants

Kelly High School seniors Lauren Powers and Thomas Cobb participated in the Southeast Texas Citizen Bee at Lamar State College-Port Arthur Thursday evening, March 6. Powers was awarded Honorable Mention and Cobb won first place!  Cobb will represent Region 5 at the State Citizen Bee Contest in Austin on April 26.  Congratulations to them both!

The Lamar University Foundation has announced an innovation fund has been established for the College of Business. The Pat and Melody Parsons Innovation Fund in Business will provide funding for outstanding students to further their studies at Lamar.

A Humble man charged with murdering his aunt in Port Arthur is set to appear for trial later this month.

Lawrence James Jr., 44, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury May 17, 2012 for murder, a first-degree felony.
