The Beaumont Police Department is presenting free personal safety seminars for citizens.

BPD plans to cover situational awareness, walking and running safety, home and apartment safety, and identity theft and internet safety.

According to Guedry, Officer Welch was not involved in the preceding confrontations and not in either of the altercating groups. In addition, he said reports that the victim was shot in the back were false.
