U.S. News & World Report ranked Lamar University’s online graduate nursing program as second in the nation out of 101 programs evaluated.

The ranking is based on four criteria: faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, student engagement, and admissions selectivity

“We are very proud of our well prepared faculty,” said Nancy Blume, director of graduate nursing studies at Lamar. “They are the backbone of our successful program.”

Although the City of Beaumont kicked off the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday Saturday, Jan. 18, there was plenty of celebrating left to be had around Southeast Texas on the official holiday celebrating the late, great Civil Rights leader and his cause Monday, Jan. 21.

Monday, Jan. 21 – Be prepared for some delays if you are traveling westbound to Beaumont on Interstate 10 today. According to TxDOT spokesperson Marc Shepherd, the westbound left lane between Rose City and Beaumont will be closed for road work being done on the Neches River Bridge, also known as the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge, today and possibly Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Beaumont police are still searching for a man who robbed the Compass bank Friday morning, Jan. 18. 

Officer Carol Riley said the man approached the teller at the bank located at 2635 I-10 E. and demanded money at approximately 11:08 a.m.
