Orange County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly arrested a 23-year-old Florida man and recovered more than 20 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Feb. 5.

The IRS and the BBB warn that IRS impersonators are calling around the area, trying to cash in by purloining people's personal information and using threats to divert vulnerable victims' cash into the fraudsters' own pockets.

The Dirty Dozen is compiled annually by the IRS and lists a variety of common scams taxpayers may encounter any time during the year. Many of these con games peak during filing season as people prepare their tax returns or hire someone to do so. One of the most commonly used last year and this year is a phone impersonation scam.

A 57-year-old Rialto, California woman living in Port Arthur has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John Malcolm Bales on Feb. 5.

According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Angie Dang pleaded guilty on Oct. 2, 2014 to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.

The United Steelworkers Union (USW), which represents workers at 65 U.S. refineries that produce approximately 64 percent of the oil in the U.S, called for work stoppage at nine U.S. refineries Sunday, Feb. 1 following failed negotiations in a national oil contract that expired at midnight Saturday night.
