Detectives are working to determine the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a Beaumont man.

At about 4:42 p.m., Jan. 6, patrol officers responded to a 911 call at a house located in the 1300 block of Central Drive.  The caller told dispatchers he woke up from a nap and found 27-year-old Derek Allen Phillips, his roommate, in the house unresponsive and bleeding profusely.  Officers arrived and found that Phillips was deceased.  Narcotics were also found in the house.


The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is forecasting a cold week of temperatures, but no precipitation.

Today’s morning’s lows will be 32 to 40 F. Thursday morning will be the coldest with temperatures 20 to 25 F and Friday morning will be between 25 and 32 F in most areas.


The City of Beaumont would like to remind the public with cold temperatures, it is important to remember home heating safety tips.

Police in Orange announced Jan. 5 that they have made a new arrest related to a Dec. 12, 2014 shooting on Ridgemont Drive that left one man injured and another man dead.

Police in Beaumont warn that there is a "particularly vile" batch of synthetic marijuana being sold in Beaumont that could cause death for users and report more than fifty people have already overdosed as a result of its use.
