Police have arrested a 68-year-old Vidor man who allegedly shot and killed a tenant renting a home on First Street following a dispute between the two parties, reports the Vidor Police Department (VPD). 


More than two years after commissioning a nearly $1 million forensic audit of the Beaumont Independent School District, BISD announced it has received a final work product and will release the analysis in its entirety for public consumption as soon as the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office completes its investigation. 

According to Assistant District Attorney Tommy Turner, the office expects to finish its analysis by the end of January.

Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at approximately 9 p.m., Beaumont officers responded to the 2000 block of Sabine Pass in reference to an auto burglary in progress. The complainant was on the phone with dispatch and said five suspects were breaking into vehicles. Officers arrived in the area and located the five suspects. The suspects burglarized two vans belonging to the Charlton-Pollard Neighborhood Association and may be responsible for an auto theft at the same location the previous night, according to a BPD press release.

This week, the popular craft store Michaels announced that three models of their Lumière brand Himalayan salt rock lamps are a shock and fire hazard. The company said the dimmer switch and outlet plug is faulty in a statement. About 80,000 salt lamps are being recalled, USA Today reported Jan. 13.
