From the Texas General Land Office:

If you’re taking your friends and family to a Texas coast, it’s important to know they’re safe and the water is clean. So Commissioner Bush called on the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to update methods of sharing this important information and create a web-based app to help Texans get all the information they need wherever they are.

The 14th annual Saint Joseph’s Day Spaghetti Lunch will take place on Friday, March 18, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica Center at 700 Jefferson Street in downtown Beaumont. Donations of $12 per meal will be collected at the door for dine-in lunches and to-go lunches.

BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals sponsored participation in the You Be The Chemist Chal

For the first time, BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC sponsored the You Be The Chemist Challenge (YBTC) at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Arthur. The challenge, developed by the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF), is a question-and-answer competition that allows students to test their knowledge of chemistry concepts as they compete to represent their state on a national level.

An Orange County Sheriff's Office detective has resigned amid a federal investigation, Sheriff Keith Merritt confirmed March 10.

OCSO Detective Chad Hogan, the office's public information officer, turned in his letter of resignation March 10 after federal investigators showed up at his place of work looking for him. Federal agents also raided his home in the morning before interviewing at the sheriff's office.

The City of Beaumont’s Recreation Division will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19, starting at noon. The hunt will be held in Magnolia Park at 2855 Magnolia. The event is free for children 2-12 years of age. Come out, enjoy the hunt while supplies last and have a chance to win an Easter basket.
