Effective Tuesday, September 29, 2015: According to a press release from the City of Beaumont, several intersections will be closed to all traffic until Friday, October 9, 2015.  All traffic will be detoured to University Drive for the following streets:

  Street closed: Chambers Drive from Iowa Street to E. Florida Street

  Street closed: Iowa Street from University Drive to Chambers Street

  Street closed: Vermont Street from University Drive to Chambers Street


The Elmo Willard Library, located at 3590 East Lucas Drive in Beaumont, will be hosting a weekly coloring session for adults, entitled “Coloring Therapy for Adults.” The program will take place each Monday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

NASA is giving university and college students an opportunity to be part of the agency’s journey to Mars with the Breakthrough, Innovative, and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge.

The program seeks innovative ideas for generating lift using inflatable spacecraft heat shields or hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerator (HIAD) technology.


On September 26, 2015, at 10:28 p.m., Vidor Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Main Street in reference to a hit and run incident involving a bicyclist. The victim, who has yet to be named, was transported to Baptist hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Local foster children had some summer fun recently thanks to a donation from the Kiwanis Club of Orange. The group donated $550 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for a summer celebration that included waterslides, a bounce house, and food. Kiwanians were also on hand to help cook hot dogs and links and serve refreshments.
