Dunisha Baker

A woman who allegedly showed up drunk for a CPS hearing was arrested in Orange on Jan. 9, police report.

According to a police report by Orange Police Department Officer Brice Due, 24-year-old Dunisha Baker of Orange was arrested under suspicion of public intoxication after a state investigator called police and reported the woman had shown up at the office, apparently under the influence of something, for a hearing pertaining to her children.

Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman called the actions of terrorists in France responsible for the deaths of 17 people from Jan. 7 through Jan. 9 "sickening," mourned the loss of fellow law enforcers across the nation and warned people to obey officers' commands in order to avoid a bad situation.

Lynell Whittington, 45, of Beaumont is dead and his 35-year-old brother suffered a stab wound after they fought over which television program to watch in the early morning of Jan. 11. According to a press release, patrol officers responded to a house in the 2000 block of Ives after an elderly man called 911 to report his sons fighting.  He also told dispatchers that his older son was unconscious.

A homeless Vidor man was arrested after an altercation at an apartment complex on Orange Street in Vidor on Jan. 2 in which the man allegedly attacked multiple victims while in possession of two hatchets and a knife, reports the Vidor Police Department.
