A head on collision on Highway 62 in Jasper County sends two to the hospital, Texas Department of Public Safety reports. The crash occured on Monday, Oct. 31 about 7:45 p.m. near Old Champion Food.

A 2006 Chevrolet SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 62. A 1999 Toyota pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 62. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet crossed the center dividing line into the southbound traffic lane. The Chevrolet collided head-on with the Toyota.


Beaumont Police are investigating a body found inside a large exhaust fan at the Beaumont Rice Mills, in the 1800 block of Pecos Road near MLK and Calder.

Detectives were called out to the scene and the “investigation is ongoing,” according to a BPD statement.

BPD PIO Officer Haley Morrow said in the statement that “information was limited at this time,” but the body is an unidentified male.


Port Arthur Police discovered a man with a gunshot wound when called out to the 600 block of Houston Ave. on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1:43 a.m.

PAPD officers were dispatched “in reference to a shooting that just occurred,” according to the release.

The victim, a 39-year-old black male, was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment.


A suspect involved in a stabbing in Port Arthur Sunday night is still at large.

Port Arthur Police responded to a report of a stabbing at Kansas and W. 13th Street on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 12:35 a.m.

Two victims, 23 and 25-year-old and Port Arthur residents, were assaulted and “identified the same suspect,” according to the report.


Port Arthur Police are looking for a gunman after a reported shooting near 440 Procter Street in downtown Friday, Oct. 28. Just before midnight, PAPD received a report of a shooting near Wellborn’s.

Officers located the crime scene and “numerous spent shell casings,” according to the release. PAPD’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photograph and collect evidence at the scene.
