Work stoppage will soon end at Motiva Enterprises refinery in Port Arthur after a vote by USW Local 13-423  to ratify a four-year contract offered by Shell Oil. USW announced Thursday, March 12, that it had reached a tentative agreement with Shell Oil at the national level, but that local unions would need to review the employers’ proposals.

A Port Arthur man who claimed self-defense in a 2013 shooting has been found guilty of aggravated assault. The trial of Erich Seals, 47, accused of shooting Donald Williams, began Wednesday, March 4, at the Jefferson County Courthouse and lasted through Friday, March 7.

According to police, Seals shot Williams, husband to the mother of his child, at the Port Arthur Park Apartments two years ago.


Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, after a search of the suspect’s residence turned up more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and other illegal items, reports the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
