Attorney General Eric Holder announced Friday, Jan. 6, revisions to the Uniform Crime Report’s (UCR) definition of rape, which will lead to a more comprehensive statistical reporting of rape nationwide, he said. The new definition is more inclusive, better reflects state criminal codes and focuses on the various forms of sexual penetration understood to be rape.

One of the largest transient gold buying operations in the country – THR & Associates – was forced to shut its doors late Thursday evening after Beaumont Police officers entered the temporary gold buying operation set-up at the Courtyard by Marriott near Washington Boulevard and informed them they were in violation of a number of state and local laws.

UPDATE: As of 1:30 p.m., officials have announced Hwy. 73 east and west bound lanes have reopened after this morning's pile-up. The total number of vehicles and victims involved in the crash is still undetermined, but reports estimate up to 200 vehicles were affected with more than 50 persons reporting injuries. At least four people were critically injured in the major traffic incident, but no fatalities have been reported.

Beaumont police officers and fire department personnel responded to an accident along Eastex Freeway just past Austin Middle School Wednesday afternoon after a man driving a 1999 Pontiac lost control of his vehicle, went over the grassy median, across the access road slamming into an oak tree and then through a brick wall at the Longfellow Apartments.
