A Corpus Christi man was found guilty of felony possession of marijuana following a two-day trial in Judge Larry Gist’s Drug Impact Court, Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced in a press release Wednesday, July 30.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office recognized Matthew Block, an assistant attorney general in the Child Support Division’s Beaumont office, for his commitment to Texas children. Block was named Assistant Attorney General of the Year for the Child Support Division’s Tyler region, which covers 43 counties. First Assistant Attorney General Daniel Hodge presented the award to Block on Tuesday at the Statewide Assistant Attorneys General Conference in Austin.

U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced Wednesday, July 30, that 23-year-old Christopher M. Carmon Thomas of Houston pleaded guilty to a Beaumont bank robbery on July 29, 2014 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn.


A 44-year-old Galveston man has been sentenced to federal prison for bank robbery in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales in a Tuesday, July 29 press release.

Brett Maurice Disiere pleaded guilty on Dec. 11, 2013, to bank robbery and was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.


Two auto burglary suspects were admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital after fleeing the scene and crashing their car into a responding patrol unit, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

The two officers suffered minor injuries and are recovering at home.  At about 3:44 a.m. this morning, several residents in Beaumont’s West End reported burglaries of their vehicles.
