Approximately 8 million people were left without electricity in the wake of the storm when it hit late Monday, Oct. 29. Floodwaters submerged city streets and water filled basements of residents in the storm zone. Desperate cities cried out for help after the tragic storm. New York City called out and National Pump & Compressor answered that call.

Members of the community are calling for Attorney General Greg Abbott to investigate a Beaumont Independent School District high school band performance, citing political bias and lewd sexual acts in the production of the school group’s half-time show.

Attorneys for the Port Arthur Independent School District (PAISD) had a busy two weeks in court, defending separate litigations accusing the district of wrongful termination and retaliation.

In a case that was described by PAISD attorneys as “settled” on Oct. 23, the school district was defending allegations that it wrongfully terminated former special education teacher Edna Edwards in 2006.

City bus riders who’ve been without service to portions of Beaumont are getting a little reprieve now that city officials have decided on the addition of a new route.

After City Manager Kyle Hayes recommended the addition at the Beaumont City Council’s Nov. 6 meeting, the council merged routes and removed a small “tripper” bus that runs mostly on weekends in order to keep the route changes revenue neutral, not raising the city’s operating cost.
