Lamar Institute of Technology is readying for a visit from Texas chief of emergency management Nim Kidd, who is scheduled to be the speaker for the 10th annual Salute to The Real American Heroes fundraiser benefiting The LIT Foundation. The event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Josh Clark never saw it coming.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) confirmed agency personnel responded to a report of a fatality at Energy Resource Technology's High Island (HI) Block A557 Platform A on Aug. 16. The location is an oil and gas production platform approximately 75 miles offshore Texas, in about 224 feet of water.
