Beaumont police assisted other law enforcers, including deputies of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, in chasing down and apprehending a suspect in an armed robbery over the weekend, but not before the man drove the stolen truck he was operating into the Neches River, BPD reports.

March 29, Ward 1 City Council candidate Claude Guidroz proudly announced his recent endorsement from the Beaumont Police Officers Association in the May 9 election. According to a news release from the candidate's staff, officers of the association voted unanimously to support Guidroz for the Ward 1 seat.


A weekend accident claimed the life of a Beaumont man, the Beaumont Police Department reports.


Beaumont city offices will be closed for Good Friday on April 3, announced the city March 30.

According to a news release, city offices, including Water Customer Service and all library branches, will be closed for the holiday. Libraries will also be closed Saturday, April 4.

There will be no interruption in garbage, heavy trash, yard waste collection or landfill services on Friday, April 3, and the city’s landfill will be open during regularly scheduled hours.
