Lamar University has cancelled Monday, April 18 classes beginning after 11 a.m. due to flooding conditions. Classes will resume Tuesday, April 19, at regular times.

For 68 years, spring has been welcomed by Beaumont’s Good Neighbor event — the Neches River Festival.

The NRF has remained one of the most illustrious events in Beaumont since its inception and continues to be a mainstay, celebrating youth, tradition and the Neches River, a resource for Southeast Texas.

According to Jefferson County District Attorney Bob Wortham, 20-year-old Torrence Edward Dorsey was sentenced to consecutive sentences in burglary cases in Criminal District Judge John Stevens’ court on Friday, April 15, cementing the DA’s office stance on going tough on home burglars.
