In honor of Memorial Day on May 30, Beaumont Animal Services, a division of the Beaumont Police Department will be honoring all veterans, past and present, with special adoption deals. Beginning May 23, and running through May 31, the adoption fee for cats and dogs will be waived for all veterans.

After spending more than an hour behind closed doors discussing the contract between Walker's Electric and the Beaumont Independent School District, trustees voted to allow the school attorney, Melody Chappell, review invoices and other documents - tabling the issue of whether or not to suspend the relationship between the company and BISD.

According to news from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday May 9, the agency received a call concerning an auto burglary at the Donut Hole located in the 6300 block of FM 1442.Upon arrival, Deputies met with the caller who reported that her truck had been burglarized and the suspect stole her purse from inside. Deputies were able to view the surveillance camera from the business and observed the suspect to be driving a white and red Ford F-250 truck.

The U.S. Department of Justice has unsealed a 37-count indictment against Calvin Gary Walker, of Walker's Electric Company, alleging money laundering, fraud, interstate transfer of funds involving fraud and fraud involving an organization that receives federal funding.

Beaumont police officers responded to a report of a deceased female Sunday morning, May 15, at about 3 a.m at the intersection of Fourth and Angelina streets. The girl was identified as 16-year-old Mandy Tient Le, a Central High School student. An investigation revealed that Le had been a passenger in an Escalade driven by 19-year-old Jonathan Benitez that had been in an accident at the Fifth and South streets intersection. She was partially ejected out of the vehicle and had been decapitated by the guide wire during the crash.
