With a violent rash of convenience store robberies plaguing Beaumont, business reps like Exxpress Mart/ Tri-Con operations manager Ron Nicklas say it’s imperative to the community’s safety that the bad actors committing these crimes be weeded out of the crowd.

“Our point of view is pretty straight forward,” Nicklas said. “It’s not like Beaumont is some sort of crime-ridden city. It’s not like there’s bands of thieves going from store to store stealing…”

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is reminding owners how to prepare livestock before the storm. When you know there is a storm coming, it's best to prepare everything you possibly can to reduce the chance of injury to your livestock or pets. The Texas Department of Public Safety is requesting the public’s help identifying a woman who was struck and killed while trying to cross the interstate in the early morning hours of Aug. 30, reports Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

Beginning Friday, Aug 31 the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up patrol for the Labor Day weekend. Deputies will focus on impaired drivers, speeders and seat belt violations on our roadways. We will also increase patrol efforts at the Beach. They encourage anyone who is planning on celebrating this last three-day weekend of the summer season, to do responsibly. They encourage citizens to plan in advance and choose their designated driver carefully.
