Billionaire businessman and philanthropist Jon Meade Huntsman Sr., 80, died Friday, Feb. 2, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

His family released a statement saying he “passed away peacefully” around 2 p.m., “surrounded by a loving family, following long-term health challenges.”

Huntsman had previously beaten prostate cancer, mouth cancer and two types of skin cancer in his lifetime.

Police in Vidor arrested four people for forgery after they allegedly attempted to pass counterfeit currency at three local businesses, reports Chief Rod Carroll. 

According to a news release from the Vidor Police Department (VPD), officers responded to a call reporting several counterfeit bills that had been used as payment at the Dollar General store in the 300 block of Main Street at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 31.  The clerk told officers that two males and a female passed fake two $20 bills and a $50 bill.

Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Jan. 31 that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested Thomas Lee Scott, 58, of Lorena, a town near Waco, on two counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison per charge.

Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have identified “mostly skeletal” remains found in Pinehurst woods in October 2017 as 22-year-old Nathaniel Allen Anderson, who was reported missing months earlier. Foul play is suspected.
