The Golden Triangle 2017 Stand Down will be held on Friday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1308 9th Avenue in Port Arthur. 

Stand Down is a free event that benefits homeless veterans, veterans and their families. The open ceremony begins at 9 a.m. with color guard provided by the American Legion.

Reaud Honors College

Lamar University’s Reaud Honors College will host the annual Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC) conference March 31 to April 2 in the new Wayne A. Reaud Building. The college confirms 440 participants from 45 different educational institutions across six states will gather at the university.

Joe E. Broussard has been crowned the 69th King of the Neches River Festival.

King Joe was born and raised in Beaumont and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Forest Park High School in 1980; and the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Accounting in 1984.
