The Orange County Commissioners' Court will hold a Public Workshop Session on county human resource polices and procedures  Wednesday, July 8. The workshop begins at 9 a.m. in the Commissioner's Courtroom, located in the Orange County Administration Building.

Topics to be discussed will human resource policies and specifically items identified in sections 200-400 of the Orange County Human Resource Policy Manual, including wage and salary administration, employee benefits and services, standards of conduct and employee corrective action.

A one-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 sent five to the hospital Saturday evening.

At approximately 5:25 p.m. Saturday, July 4, a 2008 Pontiac passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when the driver lost control near mile marker 836 in Jefferson County after possibly falling asleep at the wheel, Trooper Stephanie Davis said in a release. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest.

Beaumont Ward 3 City Councilman Audwin Samuel’s battle for a specific use permit (SUP) to run his law office out of a residence in the Oaks Historic District is seemingly over after the Beaumont City Council unanimously denied his request for the permit and a new public hearing.

The Lamar University Foundation has announced an endowed scholarship has been established for the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The Monica and William Harn Scholarship in Speech and Hearing will provide funding for outstanding students to further their studies at Lamar University.
