United Way's annual "Day of Caring"

United Way of Beaumont & North Jefferson County will host its third annual “Day of Caring” (DOC) from 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, March 27, to connect local businesses and their employees with volunteer projects in the Beaumont-North Jefferson County region.

For this unique, one-day, community volunteer event, United Way will partner with several service organizations to connect volunteers with projects at local nonprofits, including Imelda rebuild projects, painting, landscaping, clean-up help, organizing and food sorting and assembling.

Through United Way’s recruiting efforts from local corporate and community business partners and organizations, more than 25 local businesses and over 200 volunteers have pledged to participate in the 2020 United Way DOC event. Sponsoring businesses for the event are: Entergy Texas (lead sponsor), ExxonMobil, Hancock Whitney, Mobiloil Credit Union, Natgasoline, The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Turner Industries, American Valve & Hydrant, Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, BASF Beaumont, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System, Common Cents Credit Union, Goodyear Chemical, H.B. Neild & Sons Inc., H-E-B, Jefferson Energy, JK Subaru, American Air Systems, Better Business Bureau Serving Southeast Texas, Bill Clark Pest Control, Del Papa Distributing (in kind), ISC Constructors and Scallon Controls.

For those interested in donating to United Way of Beaumont & North Jefferson County during the DOC, donations can be made by visiting www.uwbmt.org. Community members who would like to support the cause are invited to text “UNITEDWAYBMT” to 41444 to show their support. Funds raised will benefit 36 programs of United Way’s 20 local nonprofit partner agencies. A full list of agencies can be found at www.uwbmt.org/partners.

Last year’s DOC connected over 200 volunteers from 27 local businesses and organizations with volunteer efforts in 12 Harvey-damaged homes. Over 700 hours of service was donated to the community during the event.
