July 16, a major water line broke at the intersection of 10th Street and McFaddin Avenue, according to a news release from the city's director of water and sewer operations.

This water line break and other breaks due to the extreme heat are causing discolored water throughout Beaumont. When the city turns off and on the valves of the system, various minerals are stirred up and can cause discoloration. The water is safe to drink and bathe in, according to the release.

Several crews are working to flush the main lines in order to clear the discolored water.
