The Legislative Budget Board (LBB), a permanent joint committee of the Texas Legislature that develops recommendations for legislative appropriations for all agencies of state government, is conducting a management and performance review of the Beaumont Independent School District, according to information from the agency. Participation in the survey was originally due no later than Friday, Jan. 25, and only open to parents of students of BISD. However, due to overwhelming demand for access to participate in the survey, the deadline has been extended until Feb. 8 and will allow input from all community members and stakeholders of BISD.
The three main objectives of this review are to (1) identify opportunities to save money or increase revenue, (2) develop strategies to streamline and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and (3) highlight exemplary programs that could be replicated by other Texas school districts.
According to information from the LBB, the agency is interested in obtaining community input regarding Beaumont ISD to assist LBB in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of education by helping the district better manage its resources.
The scope of the review includes the following 12 functional areas: District Organization and Management, Community Involvement, Educational Service Delivery, Facilities Use and Management, Personnel Management, Financial Management, Asset and Risk Management, Purchasing, Food Services, Transportation, Safety and Security, and Computers and Technology.
All responses are anonymous. To complete the survey, which is only available online, log on to www.surveymonkey.com/s/BISD_Community.
