Police have determined what caused the death of a 4-year-old who was found unresponsive in Fannett Tuesday, March 12.
According to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff, police responded to a home in the 11300 block of Wiggins Road in Fannett about 11:40 a.m.
EMS and fire fighters tried to revive the child, who was not breathing when they arrived, but were unable to save the youngster.
The child was later pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson, according to the press release.
After an autopsy was conducted, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Rod Carroll said the child died while playing on a jungle gym.
"She was playing with a rope on a slide," which became wrapped around the girls' neck away from the watchful eye of the her parents, Carroll said.
Police investigators have labeled the girl's death as accidental.
