Narcotics officers arrested one man for possession of a controlled substance in Orange on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police report completed by Orange Police Department (OPD) Sgt. Robert Estrello, he and another officer were on patrol at approximately 5 p.m. near 333 Lutcher Dr. in Orange. Estrello classified the convenience store at the location as a "known meeting place for drug transactions" in his report. In fact, the location has been the scene of other recent crimes, including prostitution. Three of the five women arrested in OPD's recent prostitution sting were picked up at the same location, according to the police reports for those incidents.
Sgt. Estrello reported that he observed a silver Toyota parked on the west side of the store. He approached the man in the vehicle and requested identification. The man identified himself as 29-year-old Derek Claude Reynolds of Orange, according to the report. The officer indicated he performed a warrant check at that time and found an outstanding warrant for Reynolds. At that time, police searched the suspect's vehicle and reportedly found marijuana and 17 Adderall. Estrello reported Reynolds was arrested for the outstanding warrant, Class B possession of marijuana and F2 possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Orange County Correctional Facility.
