Hope Women’s Resource Clinic is holding its annual Walk & Play for Life event Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. The walk will take place at Adventure Kingdom at 2952 Highway 69 S in Lumberton.
“Bring your family. Bring your kids. It’s a family event,” said Hope Reichenau, executive assistant at Hope Women’s Resource Clinic. “As well as walking, we are going to have one hour of free fun following the walk which will include putt-putt, bumper cars, a tugboat, horseshoes, volleyball, water balloon wars, and we’re also going to be serving breakfast.”
Money donated to walk will help purchase cribs, strollers, car seats, diapers, formula, baby clothes, ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, parenting classes and many other services that the clinic provides.
“This is a big fundraiser that we really rely on,” she said. “This money is going toward keeping our organization alive. It’s a good opportunity for you to be a part of something big that affects women in our community.”
In addition to fun and games and walking for a good cause, Reichenau said that prizes would also be given to some participants.
“I think we’re giving away an iPad mini for the biggest team,” she said. “For the biggest youth group team, we’re going to throw them a pizza party.”
Additional prizes will be given for the most money raised as well as the lowest score and most holes in one in the putt-putt golf game.
Sponsors for the event include Kirksey's Sprint Printing Rubber Stamps and Copies, McLeod Machine Works Inc., Placo Inc., Southeast Texas OB/GYN Associates, Star Graphics, Dupont Goodrich, Phil and Lorin Spotts, Nicholas and Judy Carter and Trey and Joy Assunto.
