Stable-Spirit is having a Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, 4375 Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Tickets are $5 for all the pancakes you can eat and a beverage. Some of these funds will be used to pay for the hippotherapy portion of the program that insurance will not cover for families who are clients (or former clients) of Stable-Spirit and/or Kids Therapy. Hippotherapy uses the movement of the horse as a means to achieve therapy goals, treating neurological disorders, musculoskeletal dysfunction, sensory processing disorder, speech and communication dysfunction and balance difficulties.
There are a few ways that you can help:
• You can come and get some tickets from Stable-Spirit and pre-sale them.
• You can volunteer to be a greeter seating guests, serve pancakes or beverages, or clean the tables on the day of the event.
• Stable-Spirit will need 14 to 24 volunteers the day of the event, depending on the number of tickets sold. (Stable-Spirit is hoping to sell 300 or more in tickets)
• You can purchase one or more tickets for the event.
Stable-Spirit will also be having a Flapjack Fundraiser at the Applebee’s in Port Arthur on Highway 365 on Saturday, June 1, from 8 to 10 a.m. Those tickets are not available yet, but if you let Katie Durio know in what capacity you are available to help with that event, she will contact you when those tickets are ready for sale.
The tickets are printed and ready for sale for the Beaumont fundraiser. Contact Durio at (409) 365-5277 or e-mail katie [at] stable-spirit [dot] org if you can help out. For more information about hippotherapy, visit www.stable-spirit.org/hippotherapy.php .
