The bouncing bazaar known as the Merchant Soiree returns April 14, hoping to host many good fellows at Goodfella’s. In the words of Shakespeare, the merchants invite you to buy with them, sell with them, talk with them, walk with them—at what’s squaring up to be the biggest and most lovely Soiree yet.
In its seventh installment in the monthly event, the Goodfella’s Soiree will host over 30 vendors in the courtyard in front of the restaurant—opening plenty of space for a true bazaar experience and a live music set.
“I really thought it was the neatest thing I’d heard of around here,” said Goodfella’s owner Frankie Randazzo. “We have so much space we can give them, so I think it will really be a big event. I’m really excited about it.”
Beginning at 7 p.m., live entertainment will include by Skeeter Jones on the patio at Goodfella’s, while Ramblin Boys of Pleasure featuring Ashlynn Ivy will play an acoustic set in the courtyard. The soiree will not impose on diners, as vendors will be out of the way in front of the restaurant. Ramblin’ Boys of Pleasure with Ashlynn Ivy with an acoustic set in the courtyard.
“I want to see people sitting on the grass, relaxing, having a good time and enjoying the music,” said Randazzo. “There are places where you often see people just enjoying time—you don’t see that in Beaumont anywhere, and I think this would be a great way to do just that.”Vendors on site sell everything, including jewelry, candles, orginal works of art and clothing, all with one catch—the items for sale must be handmade or comprised of recycled, repurposed materials.
“I definitely knew this was something I wanted to be a part of—that beautiful, artistic, natural showcase for local talent, combined with food, and music—this is the feel I want to help create in Beaumont,” said Randazzo, who also uses rooms in his restaurant as galleries for local artworks—donating the standard 25% commission to a local charity of the artist’s choosing.
“I really respect their enthusiasm and their desire to create something on their own,” Randazzo said of the Soiree organizers. “This encourages people to shop locally and see what the community truly has to offer—great art, music and food. Everybody benefits from this and it’s a great evening out.”
The event is open and free to the public—guests are invited to enjoy dinner at Goodfella’s, including drink specials and appetizer specials to be announced the night of the event. For more information, contact Larena Head at (409) 951-0961.
