La’Tisha Vargas, an event planner with the folkloric ballet troupe the Golden Triangle Hispanic Association, invites the community to attend a celebration of Mexican Independence Day, which is Sept. 16. Vargas’ dancers, various bands, numerous vendors and others will be on Crockett Street in Beaumont on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1 p.m. on for a pageant and festival to commemorate the occasion.
Vargas, who has three daughters who will be dancing and one who will participate in the pageant, said the pageant starts at 1 p.m. and her dance group will be performing at various times throughout the day starting at approximately 2:30 p.m. She said attendees can buck to their heart out on one of three mechanical bulls that will be available for use at the event. Children can bounce, bounce, bounce in a moonwalk or have their faces painted while parents dance to the music filling the air on the street and the local businesses on Crockett. There will also be a style show showcasing dresses from Port Arthur business Maria’s Quinceañera.
“There are going to be a lot of people there,” Vargas said of the event. “It is going to be amazing!”
