Orange County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a second accidental shooting in Vidor on Oct. 21.
Already investigating an accidental shooting that left a five-year-old boy dead earlier the same day, deputies received a call from a man on Erin Street in Vidor who said his .22-caliber revolver went off while he and his father were cleaning it. The 27-year-old man told deputies he was cleaning his gun when the cylinder jammed. He was not able to clear the jam, so his father attempted to assist. The gun went off in the man's hand, striking the 27-year-old victim in the thigh. Acadian Ambulance responded to the scene and the man was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.
OCSO stated in a news release that based on witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene, the shooting was ruled accidental.
