A Port Arthur man is dead after a shooting at the Speak Easy Lounge on Procter Street in Port Arthur at approximately 2 a.m. on Jan. 5.
According to a news release from PAPD, 32-year-old Marcus Antonio Elmore was shot killed after witnesses say he pulled a gun on a patron outside the bar. Multiple parties on scene told police the unidentified shooter "lawfully defended himself" after Elmore pointed the handgun at him.
Elmore was transported via ambulance to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he died from his injuries.
PAPD Detective Mickey Sterling said no charges have been filed at this time.
"At this point there is no evidence to lead us to believe the man acted in anything but self-defense," Sterling said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
