Port Arthur Police are investigating two incidents from the evening of Sunday, Jan. 26, that they believe are related. While responding to the first call regarding shots fired in the 300 block of 9th Street at approximately 10:13 p.m., PAPD received a second call about a shooting victim in the 900 block of 10th Street.
According to a news release from PAPD, upon arrival at the scene of the first incident, officers spoke to the resident of the home on 9th Street. The resident told police that three men forcibly entered the home holding several people at gunpoint. The suspects removed some items from the home and fled. As they were escaping, the resident fired at least one shot toward the suspects. Officers reported evidence at the scene led them to believe the suspects fired back at the residence while fleeing.
While police were on scene at the reported aggravated robbery, other units responded to the shooting victim on 10th Street. The victim, who police also believe to be one of the suspects in the home invasion on 9th Street, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont and listed in critical condition.
Police are still searching for suspects and information regarding the incidents.
